The story of the bow table

Soon after our move onto Alhambra we realised a want to get an oval table made for the bow of the boat. Something that could be placed on top of the bollard mooring structure, to act as a portable table surface. OK then… so I needed to make a multi textured novel table, with a…

Baguio Villa to Alhambra

I have record of our first visit to Alhambra being Sun 12th June. Talulah, Kathy & I got off the sampan, sat in the car, closed the doors, looked at each and said “Let’s do it”. Let’s buy Alhambra, move out of Baguio Villa and live on it.   The fantastic view will be missed….

The all important Survey

Everything hinges around the results of the… [cue music & lights]  SURVEY. The seller probably wants it… (possibly not really :)) The Finance Company want it. The Insurance company want it. I want it. There’s a list of Marine Surveyors. The Finance company provided a list of three accepted people. Inline with experienced opinions /…

Coverage required

Another installment on the route to Alhambra. The scale of finance attached to purchasing a Liveaboard boat keeps popping into my mind barnacled with bubbles of “Agghhhh, loads of money, loads of responsibility, what if….” The decision to buy your home is said to be one of life’s largest expenses. IT IS … and it’s…

Closer by the day

We move ever closer to our next adventure. I must say I’m kinda surprised that a good few of the required process components have made me feel like a grown up, again!!! I’ve felt that way before: the last time being when my wife and I purchased a dinning table with 6 chairs… This manoeuvre…

Collaboration options

5 shows done, 1 to go

The Starlit Voice production of the script ‘NORMAL‘ by Paul Wallis (UK) run at the Hong Kong Arts Centre, McAulay Studio through 10th – 13th Dec, 2015 has been a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding process to be involved with. Alongside Starlit Voice director Vince Warren I’ve been working with a small group of technically focused students through multiple Saturday sessions at…

Final show – all good

The last show and all went well. All the set up and tuning turned out well.  Funny how a shattered 2 KW Profile lens can make a great gobo:)  innovative minds at work…  Director John Mulhall thanks the student cast and crew for a job well done.  I was given a nicely smelly gift too….

Adventures of Yoshi and the Tea Kettle – running well @ HKIS

The Tech-Know-Wise crew are now on their third of four performances and all is well. Adjustments / fine tuning has continued daily. Here’s hyper-cardioid microphone adjustments.  The students set up a three camera live recording system to record the final two shows.   It amazes me again how focused the students are when doing such tasks….
